Of ancestors and guardians in our practices

A treatise on not acting alone:

In magick, and especially in the practice of witchcraft, our actions, while guided by our hands, are not entirely in our hands alone. Every action we take individually may be supported, influenced, or empowered by those around us, particularly our ancestors, our guardians, and even Nature itself.

Their participation is often peripherally, subconsciously; they stand with us even if not summoned by name. As the saying goes, "It takes a village," and they will stand ready to come forth when needed. We must only acknowledge their presence and participation, whether during or even after, as a sign of honor and respect.

Only the arrogant would ever presume having enough power on their own to affect the outcomes they desire. The rest of us, having practiced long enough, know that, while we are powerful, we are not all-powerful. Even with the help of our ancestors and guardians, we cannot force our will, but we will be more able in our actions to persuade.

Trust in those who believe in you; accept their willingness and ability to help you. You will be stronger for it.
