Lessons Come Around

Every scar carries a story to tell
Every fall I took was never meant as hell
The universe is speaking in a language I'm learning slow
It's not about the breaking, it's about the chance to grow

And you can't hide, deny it, run away
But the same door keeps opening day after day

These aren't punishments
They're lessons in a plain disguise
As curtains start to open
That open up our eyes
If we miss the meaning
If we turn around and hide
The same old story circles back
It comes around all the time
Until we finally see
Until we all understand
The universe keeps teaching
With a patient, gentle hand

I used to think I was unlucky, cursed, or just too weak
But every trial found me at the answers that I seek
Fate wasn't the purpose, just a way to get my attention
To show me what I'm holding that was never mine to mention

And I can't blame the sky, shake my fist and say
But the lessons waiting for me by the same old gate

These aren't punishments
They're lessons in a plain disguise
As curtains start to open
That open up our eyes
If we miss the meaning
If we turn around and hide
The same old story circles back
It comes around all the time
Until we finally see
Until we all understand
The universe keeps teaching
With a patient, gentle hand

So I'm getting quiet, I'm learning how to hear
What every heartbreak whispers, what hides inside the fear
The cycles only end when I choose to see the light
When I stop asking 'Why me?' and ask 'What's this making right?'

These aren't punishments
They're lessons in a plain disguise
The universe keeps calling through
The sunshine and the rain
When I finally listen
When I let the wisdom in
The pattern breaks, the cycle ends
A new life can begin
I'm grateful for the teaching
Though the classroom's sometimes hard
The universe is love, it's something I've held within my heart
Everyone's a teacher, every test a guide
The lesson comes around until we look inside
