Complex Query

The complex query chart provides a number of different types of answers depending on the nature of the question asked. Going beyond yes/no answers, it can reveal more detailed information. It is not, however, used for spirit communication since the pendulum is primarily a tool for divination.

To begin, formulate the question to be asked. Keeping the question in mind, hold the pendulum over the center of the chart and allow it to begin moving in a circle.

If it moves in a deosil (clockwise) circle, ask the question aloud and specify the area of the chart intended to reveal the answer. When the swing of the pendulum appears to settle in one direction, derive the answer based on its movement.

However, if it moves in a widdershins (counter-clockwise) direction, the pendulum is not ready or able to reveal an answer. Ask if it will say the reason why. Observe its movement toward one of the predefined reasons around the bottom of the layout.
