New Moon
- - - - -
From Us to You, so You May See
Whence wrapped in its midnight shadow,
remaining ever inspiring and mystical,
prompting us to fear not the dark.
Therein lies potent, compelling purpose.
To its glory we yield up our own might
as it comes anew into its being,
to impart the raw vigor of its abilities.

The moon cycle begins at the new moon. Even in its dark days, the new moon has purpose and meaning, as it reminds us that the darkness is not to be feared. We offer to the moon our own strength and power, sustaining its life, so that it may begin another round.
Its name during a cycle reflects the primary influence it conveys during that time. We honor the new moon best when we focus our intentions to its purpose and meaning. Listening to our intuition, we are guided into what is most effective, knowing the moon, even when dark, is still watching over and inspiring us.

Requisites:
Black new moon candle
1.
Light the new moon candle.
2.
Stand before the altar.
Even when the moon is dark,
we hear its call and see its mark.
Even without any light,
with openness we feel its might.
3.
Stand before the altar with arms outstretched.
Whisper forth, ye new moon.
Whisper with us, your new tune.
Inspire us with subtle know,
so we shall reap what we sow.
Your deepest wisdom is decreed,
giving all that we will need.
4.
Contemplate the meaning of the current moon
and consider its influences and inspirations.
5.
Stand before the altar.
In darkness above and below,
with the moon we always know,
forever will we have a friend,
in ev'ry day, without end.
6.
Stand before the altar with arms outstretched.
With gratitude, ye new moon,
to come together, to commune.
In your spirit, your trust and love,
we humbly share thereof.
From us to you, so you may see.
As we will it, so mote it be.
7.
Allow the candle to burn out or for as long as desired.
