releasing that which ceases to be requisite.

As the moon progresses through its cycle, each phase governs a different aspect of magickal purpose. The way the moon reflects the light of Sky onto Orb mirrors how the powers of Nature, through magick, are reflected through intentions.

New Moon
New beginnings and goals

At night, Sky is dark, allowing Orb a chance to rest and rejuvenate. In the darkness with sight limited, intuitive skills are heightened, and there is an opportunity for introspection. As a new cycle of the moon begins, this is a good time to contemplate new beginnings and set goals. Protection magick is also very effective.

Waxing Moon
Growth and expansion

The growing light of the moon allows Sky at night to increasingly shine down upon Orb. During this phase, magickal energy can be absorbed and held. Workings of a constructive design are best done at this time, including spells of creation, growth, or attraction. It is an opportune time to put projects in motion or make new friends.

Full Moon
Achievement and fulfillment

Sky shines brightly in the night, and so Orb is fully aglow. This is a time of potent magick, and with so much energy, on-going workings will be successfully achieved. A palpable increase in personal and external awareness makes divination a productive undertaking. Activities that develop connections and magickal skills as well as spells of empowerment are highly practical.

Waning Moon
Decline and contraction

The light is diminishing as Sky gradually fades over Orb. While energy reserves dwindle, personal burdens are carried away and magickal workings turn inward. This makes destructive magick, such as banishing what is unwanted or unneeded, highly effective. Removing obstacles and clearing away the old are also appropriate.
